Sarita has worked for 30 years in the field of De-addiction and Recovery to help shed light on living beyond addiction by showing how to tap into new perspectives and practices to heal and thrive on this amazing path of recovery and discovery. Her area of expertise has been in preventive care, expression therapy and counselling. Working with children, prison inmates and families, in the field of drugs and alcohol abuse has been immensely rewarding for her. Sarita has been associated for 17 years with SANA (Singapore Anti-Narcotics Association) which has the President of Singapore as its Patron. In 2012, Sarita was awarded the Certificate of Honour for outstanding services to SANA which recognized her excellent and impressive work, commitment and contribution in helping to curb and battle against drug abuse in Singapore. Sarita’s body of work also comprises working with the Singapore Prison Service, supporting their rehabilitation program for the “Special Care Drug Addicts/HIV” inmates @ the Community and Family Engagement Branch of the Rehabilitation and Reintegration Division for which she was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by SANA in 2015. In November 2016 Sarita was conferred the Long Service Award by the National Council of Social Services and another Certificate of Appreciation from SANA for her contribution and support towards a drug-free Singapore. After college at the JJ School of Fine Arts, Mumbai and a short career in Interior Designing, Sarita got married to a sailor and was fortunate to sail the oceans for nearly 25 years with her husband and often with her son. Sarita has also regularly participated over the last 30 years in the 12 step therapeutic process and personally benefited from active membership in self-help groups, finding understanding and support for recovery from the effects of someone else’s problem drinking. She brings Art as an Expression Therapy to help children – and adults – deal with negative situations, disabilities and trauma. Sarita honours all paths of recovery from all addictions
